Custom Turbo Intercooler Kits for Mazda MX-5 NA/NB (1989-2005)
Precision-engineered intercooler kit matched to your specific turbo setup. Components specifically designed for your MX-5 NA/NB. Get perfect fitment, max airflow efficiency and reliable performance under boost.
📦Kit Contents
- Hot-side piping (turbo to intercooler)
- Cold-side piping (intercooler to throttle body)
- Blow-off valve (or a blank pipe if supplying your own)
- Intercooler core (BoostProducts bar-and-plate, rated 300–500hp)
- Optional actuator bracket
- Optional turbocharger
All pipes are bead-rolled aluminium with TIG welds and high-temp silicone couplers. BOV and throttle body flanges are welded based on your choices — no adapter flanges or hack jobs.
Some hot-side piping options require welding an elbow to the compressor housing. These will only appear when purchasing a new turbo with the kit.

❄️Intercooler Core Options
All cores are made by BoostProducts using tube-and-fin construction:
- 550x140x65mm – Up to 300hp – AC compatible
- 550x180x65mm – Up to 350hp – AC compatible
- 550x230x65mm – Up to 500hp – Not AC compatible

Some compressor housings (particularly 2554R/2560R) require custom elbow fabrication for proper fitment. These modifications are only available when purchasing the turbo with your kit.

General Questions
How long does installation take?
Installation typically takes 4-6 hours for someone with moderate mechanical experience. Professional installation is recommended if you're not comfortable with turbo system components.
Do I need to tune my ECU after installation?
Yes. Any turbo setup requires proper ECU tuning to run safely. We recommend using a professional tuner experienced with forced induction MX-5s.
Is this kit compatible with my existing fuel system?
For builds under 250hp, your stock fuel pump may be adequate with upgraded injectors. For higher power levels, you'll need a complete fuel system upgrade including pump, lines, and injectors.
What manifold types work with this kit?
Our kits are designed for the three most common MX-5 turbo manifold types: T25 flange, GT 5-bolt flange, and V-band configurations. The configurator will filter compatible options based on your manifold choice.
Technical Details
What's the difference between internal and external wastegate setups?
Internal wastegates are built into the turbo housing and offer simpler installation. External wastegates are separate components that provide better boost control and are recommended for higher power builds.
Can I reuse my existing blow-off valve?
Yes. Select the "blank pipe" option during configuration, and we'll provide a pipe with the appropriate flange for your throttle body without a BOV.
Will this setup cause heat soak issues?
Our front-mount intercooler design provides excellent cooling efficiency. The core size options are specifically matched to different power levels to ensure proper heat dissipation.
Is an oil cooler required with this kit?
While not strictly required, we strongly recommend an oil cooler for any turbocharged MX-5 to maintain proper oil temperatures under boost.
