MX-5 Turbo Kit Builder
Build a bolt-on turbo system for your Miata one component at a time. Choose the manifold, turbo, downpipe, intercooler and exhaust that suit your build; the builder shows only the parts that fit what you have already selected, and you can configure a full system or only the components you need. Every part is designed and manufactured by Kraken. To buy an individual component such as a single downpipe or manifold on its own, see the Parts page.

Designed and made in‑house.
Kraken is a manufacturer, not a reseller. The manifolds are cast in-house from NiResist D5S Type 2; the stainless downpipes, exhausts and intercooler piping are TIG welded in the same workshop, in Europe. The turbo, intercooler core and catalytic converter are bought in and fitted.

Fit and installation
The manifold, downpipe and exhaust are made in-house to the same flange pattern, allowing the system to install without fabrication. A few jobs still happen on the car, and they are listed below.
- 01
- The builder only shows compatible parts
- The configurator filters to the parts that fit what you have already chosen, with chassis and flange notes on every option.
- 02
- Flanges match end to end
- A T25 four-bolt or V-band inlet meets the manifold, a GT five-bolt outlet joins the downpipe through a dedicated adaptor, and the intercooler flanges are welded to your turbo.
- 03
- Built to your configuration, shipped duty-paid to the US
- Each system is assembled to the options set in the builder and shipped to the United States with all import duties paid. There is no customs or broker bill on delivery.
On the car: you bend or wrap the brake lines and the heater hardpipe to clear the downpipe, and the oil-feed line is cut to length. This is normal for any turbo system.
Shipped duty-paid
We cover the import duties and customs on orders to the United States. There is no duty or broker bill when the system is delivered, and the price at checkout is the price you pay.
How the parts are made
Most turbo manifolds are welded from steel tube or cast in plain iron, prone to cracking under sustained heat. The manifolds are cast in-house from NiResist D5S Type 2, the high-nickel iron used for turbine housings, with the downpipes and exhausts fabricated to the same standard.
Cast as a single piece in NiResist D5S Type 2, avoiding the runner-to-runner joints a fabricated manifold relies on, and rated for the heat a turbine flange sees.
Flange faces are machined flat and to the correct pattern, allowing the turbo, manifold and downpipe to fasten together and seal without shims or grinding.
Downpipes and exhausts are TIG welded in 304L stainless, with V-band joints throughout for hand-tool installs and servicing.
The system, part by part
Exhaust gas runs from the manifold through the turbine, downpipe and exhaust; intake air runs from the compressor through the intercooler to the throttle body. Each junction is a flange. The metal parts are made in-house; the turbo, intercooler core and catalytic converter are bought in and fitted.
Cast Manifold
Manifolds are cast in-house from NiResist D5S Type 2, a high-nickel iron that holds up under sustained exhaust heat and thermal cycling. Twin-scroll versions pair the runners to keep the exhaust pulses separate for faster turbo response. Top-mount and low-mount versions place the turbo to suit the engine bay.

Turbo
The turbo is the one major part bought in rather than made in-house. T25-class turbos from Garrett and PSR mount to a T25 four-bolt inlet with Inconel studs; BorgWarner EFR and other V-band turbos connect through a V-band inlet on the cast V-band manifolds. The builder pairs each turbo with its matching flange.

Stainless Downpipe
The downpipe takes the turbine outlet. A GT five-bolt outlet connects through a cast V-band adaptor; a native V-band outlet joins directly, with no adaptor needed. The pipe is 3-inch 304L stainless, TIG welded, with pie-cut bends to clear the chassis.

Downpipe-Back Exhaust
The exhaust runs in 304L stainless, straight-through, with V-band joints along its length for hand-tool installs and servicing. The muffler, resonator and optional 200-cell catalytic converter are made in Sweden by Simons. A twin-exit option is available.

Front-Mount Intercooler
The intercooler pairs a bought-in BoostProducts bar-and-plate core with hot- and cold-side piping bead-rolled and welded in-house from aluminium. The BOV and throttle-body flanges are welded to your turbo, and AC-compatible core sizes keep air conditioning.
